I am absoultely outraged and saddened to hear today’s news that a number of post offices in County Roscommon, Leitrim and Longford are amongst those to close in yet another attack on rural Ireland. We in Tarmombarry already lost our post office some years ago as did our neighbours in Clondra and it is deeply distressing to hear that 110 branches around the country are to cease function – marking the end of an era for many towns and villages and contributing to rural isolation for so many.

Those set to close their doors for the final times include Knockvicar, Granlahan and Loughglynn, Cloonagh and Carrickboym, Newtowngore, Aughavas and Aghacashel – all at the hands of a FG/FF led government who have proven themselves to be totally incompetent and heedless to the real needs of the people they represent.
