I welcome An Bord Pleanala’s recent decision to approve the proposed development of the N5 between Ballaghadereen and Scramogue which will hopefully make that route much more safer for both commuters and pedestrians. This long awaited project will see the construction of approximately 35 km of carriageway along with the realignment of some 15km of existing roads while the proposed N5 Ballaghadereen to Scramgoe Road will fall in with the N5 Ballaghaderreen bypass before joining up with the existing N5 at Scramgoe.

This has been a highly hazardous stretch of road for some time and rural Ireland have always had to fight for such developments. It is a welcome change to see such progress being made and we look forward to seeing this project through completion when the time comes. It will benefit both the local community and welcoming visitors.
