As someone closely associated with the village of Rooskey I have to say that I am very upset by the violent actions of last night which saw a fire break out in the Shannon Key West Hotel.

Unfortunately preliminary investigations now suggest that the blaze was started maliciously and whilst it is true that the village of Rooskey may not have the necessary adequate facilities in which to deal with the 80 asylum seekers who were scheduled to arrive in the vicinity in the near future – and the potential reopening of the premises as a fully functioning hotel would instill new life and employment into the area, I think that the vast majority of people in the village will agree that such acts of destruction are not the correct way to deal with any grievances.
