It is the best pub in County Roscommon and has come within a whisker last year of being the best pub in Connaught and the West of Ireland.
Crosby’s pub in the picturesque village of Tarmonbarry the Gateway to the West of Ireland on the National Primary Route N5 has been chosen as the County Roscommon winner in the prestigious Black & White Pub of the Year Competition and is hotly tipped this year as a real contender to be chosen as the best pub in the province.
Owners Pauline and Councillor Tom Crosby together with the well known staff at the bar are celebrating two in a row win in the Country’s most prestigious and best known pub quality awards.
Located on the Banks of the River Shannon Crosby’ Pub has become known by natives far and wide and visitors from all over Great Britian and Europe who stop over while cruising the River Shannon at one of the most popular locations on the River. Crosby’s is renouned for its food, drink, electric atmosphere and efficient and friendly Bar Staff, the pub offers a perfect blend of old world charm and new world comfort.
The Black & White Pub of the Year County Award was presented to Crosby’s based on high standards of hygiene, staff efficiency and friendliness, inviting appearance and a well served range of drinks, vital critiera to any award winning establishment.
Hundred of outlets were judged by the Blank & White preliminary Judges who conducted their search over the last number of weeks and Crosby’ Pub has now been shortlisted for the regional title for the Best Pub in Connaught and the West of Ireland and will be adjudacted on by a panel of celebrity judges who include Fair City’s Billy actor Stuart Dunne along with Irish Rugby star David Wallace and RTE Meteorolologist Evelyn Cusack. If successful in the Regional awards Crosby’s will go forward with the other Regional winners for the award of the best pub in Ireland.
It would great for promoting Tourism on the River Shannon and for County Roscommon to win the Connaught title according to Councillor Tom.
The décor in Crosby’s pub is simply stunning, with new features being added all the time by Pauline and Tom, this years judging panel will see more than last years. We are going to give the Connaught title our best shot again, but we know we could not have done it without our efficient staff and of course our loyal customers over our twenty years in our native village of Tarmonbarry said Tom.
